Becoming Barbosa

“Becoming Barbosa” is centered around the story of Edgar, whose a young man whose life changes when pirates destroy his hometown in Cornwall. After losing his family, Edgar escapes to Nassau with his friends Abner and Bo. There, he meets rebels fighting against British rule in the Caribbean.

Edgar learns to fight and sail under Captain Wolfgang’s training. He grows from a scared boy into strong leader who plan attacks on enemy ships. The rebels trust Edgar to guide them through dangerous missions and it all builds up to a big battle in which Edgar must choose revenge or doing what’s right.

When his friend Polly gets hurt in the fighting Edgar realizes that winning comes with a heavy price. “Becoming Barbosa” mixes real history with exciting adventure, showing how people found courage to fight for freedom when times were hard. The book captures all that spirit of rebellion during the age of pirates.

Lovers’ Leap

“Lover’s Leap” takes place in California when settlers and the Pelewi people lived in growing tension along the Estanislao River. Lily Wilson, daughter of the town leader, meets Tano, a young Pelewi man who loves the land his people have called home for generations.

Their friendship grows despite opposition from both communities. Lily’s father, Sam, wants to expand the town into Pelewi territory, while settler Levi Crane pushes for aggressive action against the tribe. Chief Tavi tries to protect his people while maintaining their traditional ways.

When Sam Wilson dies during a violent confrontation, both sides prepare for war. Lily and Tano’s relationship becomes very dangerous as anger spreads through both communities. Their final, desperate leap into the river shock all those gathered and demands that both groups confront their hatreds.

“Lover’s Leap” examines how understanding can evolve between cultures even when there is fear and prejudice. The tale displays how heroic actions committed by one person may very well lead communities to opt for peace as opposed to violence when such a choice is presented.

Tatum’s Castle The Curse of Grimstone

“Tatum’s Castle: The Curse of Grimstone” follows a ten year old girl named Tatum. One day she discovers a secret door right in her bedroom closet. That door opens up to a whole magical place called Everland. Tatum figures she should bring her little brother Harrison with her on this trip. The two of them head off to break a curse. That curse has kept a dragon named Elysia stuck inside the dark Grimstone Castle for a long time.

During their travels the kids run into some helpful beings. Pip the Puddling turns out to be one of them. Raffi the fox joins in to assist as well. These friends show the siblings around Everland’s amazing sights and tricky spots. They deal with threats like a huge spider known as Arachnella. The Watchers’ Woods feel spooky too. It seems like invisible eyes watch their every move there.

This adventure really challenges how brave they can be. The pair climbs high mountains even as fierce storms whip around them. They push on just to get to that haunted castle. Inside they find out something important. To end the curse they have to confront their own fears head on. Bravery helps but so does sharing laughs along the way.
